Vinted Shoppers Share Anger Regarding Sizing Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Changes
Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Required Changes
Another shopper, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
