This latest animated series, the most recent animated series from Critical Role, revealed a new opening credits. It features the beloved group of outcasts, misfits, and criminals fighting hard and making their mark, while teasing at multiple agonizing personal histories for characters such as the voice actor's mage Caleb, and Travis Willingham's warlock orc, Fjord.

All in all, the intro appears stunning. However, I felt that an element was missing in the music selection.

This sequence uses "Welcome to Wildemount", a truly stellar song created by producer and singer the talented musician. It's a track from the soundtrack album of the same name, the second release put out by the production company's record label their music brand. It's a great sentimental option, and I suspect that devotees of the sequel series will love its presence.

Personally, The series' opening fails to capture the excitement and excitement that was part of the show's live-play sessions. "It's Your Turn", composed by singer-songwriter Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic in my view when it was first revealed in 2015, and it improved further when co-founder Sam Riegel added lyrics to the melody for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018.

Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, another performer, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the track was memorable and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't seen the follow-up series yet, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my phone. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an episode of fantasy hijinks.

The show's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the right notes for me. It's a grand composition, but based on my understanding of the group, I feel that its mood is somewhat mismatched.

Of course, Critical Role has already said that the series will have a few surprises and variations from the original live sessions. A tonal change for its intro appears as among these.
