Supporters Call for Detainment of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal fans of the actress are calling for that a individual who jumped a barrier and grabbed the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good premiere be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared video shows the Australian man bypassing media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the cast proceeded down a event pathway flanked by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately guided the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "released after being taken in", though official papers indicated that he was due to attend court on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
Record of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account features recordings of him interrupting other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers event in the city last December.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is evidently a punishable act," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user wrote.
Fans Show Disapproval Over Grande's Well-being
Numerous supporters blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed suffering from PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and wounding many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said another message on Instagram.
A number of fans also criticised event staff at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while some called for social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Response and Event Details
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande appeared surprised when she was approached by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the premiere activities proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of supporters had assembled in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore mall, including several who had stood in line for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be released on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a two-film interpretation of the popular Broadway and West End production Wicked, which revolves around the surprising friendship between two distinct characters.
The show itself is a derivative of the classic book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a light pink sequin dress at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and earned a dozen Oscar nominations, securing two for outstanding attire and set decoration.
