How these Denver Broncos together with their malleable quarterback could halt that Chiefs' dominance.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Live coverage includes live text for Sunday's games on various channels, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, audio coverage is available on designated networks covering another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).

It's week six in the football calendar , after last week's talk about two top teams being a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both lost their perfect starts.

Striking in those games were the number of penalties each committed. Philadelphia committed them in key moments so they kind of beat themselves after leading 17-3 entering the final quarter versus Denver, who play overseas this Sunday.

However it proved positive to observe that Denver quarterback Bo Nix was able to overcome that deficit before lead three successful possessions on three possessions in the fourth quarter, to win the game by four points.

Denver have the defensive player of the year with CB their star corner. They rank number one in goal-line defense, while the Eagles are number one in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos won that contest.

They had effective strategies in terms of disguised blitzes. They did not always rushing more than four pass rushers instead they could plug two LBs in the interior before withdrawing them and send a slot defender off the edge.

At the start in the campaign, we said during a show how the Broncos might emerge as this season's surprise contenders. They ended the previous year well and excelled of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this season's dark horses?

New tight end Evan Engram has excelled big while new RB their rusher is a guy the team trusts. He's currently fifth league-wide in ground gains (402) as well as tied-fourth in rushing scores (four).

I love how the coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

This demonstrates how Denver represent a squad aiming to run first, since one can achieve much off the back of that. It slows opposing rushes while keeps you in positive situations.

It's also helped QB Bo Nix, who entered the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – just behind a star QB for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert have the arm strength to throw anywhere, however they lack the mobility that Nix has. He has incredible arm talent, which is different, and he is so athletic.

His assets include his mobility, being able to throw on the run, as well as using varied release points to deliver throws as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He can throw that layered pass across the middle and past defenders.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays great poise in the pocket and is not bothered by the blitz. He tries to avoid a sack whenever possible and can throw in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and remains quick to decide.

When you constantly run the ball it consumes the clock and forces the defence to be in play for longer, and when you've got a mobile QB the defence must cover the field downfield side to side. This proves draining.

Nix has bitten back with the coach on the sideline at times and it seems the coach likes that fire, that he's such a competitor. In my view it's exciting for him to have a young quarterback who's kind of like play-dough. He can really build something up how he wants to shape him. I think it's a special experience for the coach.

Payton owns a championship and now passed a legend for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen everything. I think the success Denver are having on offence is mostly due to his guidance, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the combination with the QB aids make him what he is.

You wouldn't want a better guy in your ear, to help you through difficult moments and boost self-belief.

I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet is the team good enough to face an elite team at full strength? Because that wasn't championship-level play from Philadelphia last Sunday.

Currently, it's unlikely the Broncos are incredible. They're performing better than most, that's a solid position to be in the AFC West. The key to do is maintain this trajectory.

They're really good at embracing their strength, which is the ground game, and that's exactly what they should do versus the New York Jets in London. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.

The Jets have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (among the worst), five ground scores so far (10th worst), and they're the only team without a win any game.

Since the league started recording turnovers in 1933, the Jets are the first team to be without any turnovers through five games, this is surprising when you think that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes stated Kansas City are off to a poor start following Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.

After the upcoming matchup, the Broncos have a manageable slate up to their bye (in week twelve) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders before the Chiefs.

Looking at their division, the Chiefs are 2-3 while Denver are even with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 so they could make a run for the top of the West.

It depends on which form of the Chiefs they meet since the Broncos {beat|def
