Football Expert Sutton Takes On Singer Murs in Premier League Forecasts

Arsenal's ten-match winning streak was ended by the Black Cats before the international hiatus, but can the English top division frontrunners recover against north London rivals Spurs this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus artificial intelligence, fans and a variety of guests.

For week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

The singer's latest album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Soccer and Parenting Life

Olly is a talented soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a star of several charity football games down the years - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a player.

"{I recently played in a benefit match the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "My side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or son decides to play instead."

Murs and his spouse his partner have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.

"I will not force football on our kids but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their Saturday soccer team," he added.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously owned a football club for a while too.

"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I inherited it. He managed our side for several years and had great fun with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from injury but their attack is already stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this fixture will be quite close, however. The Clarets are well organised and their sole home losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

It smells of a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

The singer's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple games - although both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, the Hammers secured back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.

West Ham's sole on the road victory this campaign came at Forest in August, when their boss Nuno was previously Forest manager.

Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - can West Ham extending their run under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I will choose Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's forecast: 2-0

The guest's outlook: The home team are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the season began, but they have impressed a several people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their last four games.

My son told me to get Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

Thiago will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.

They have not had great success on the road this season, and the Seagulls are consistently decent at home. Brentford will attempt to attack on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's side pose much more of a threat.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

Olly's prediction: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality proves to be quite tight. 1-1

AI's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six games.

They have have plenty of talent in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone battle.

As for Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.

The away side's performance in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not seen anyone else disrupt the Gunners like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing to do to back the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the last time they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the close of last month.

But I am not going to choose that. Rather, I truly need to carry on opposing Sunderland with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they evidently love to prove me wrong.

Considering the home side's home record, the sole side they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be absolutely desperate for a good result, so I am going to say they will pick up three points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and also that the hosts are on a poor streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at home this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough one to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but could they be among the teams who benefit from the {international break|
