Ex- Doctor Accused of Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a former physician now faces charges for carrying out sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – including some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors said the 45 charges comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
