England Coach Tim Southee Unsure on Ashes Participation
The bowler's most recent Test for New Zealand was versus England in December 2024.
England fast-bowling advisor Tim Southee is currently evaluating the extent of his role will be at the forthcoming Ashes series in the host nation.
The ex- Kiwi seamer is only likely to be present for the opening match because of his involvement in the International League T20 tournament, which begins on 2 December in the United Arab Emirates.
Southee, aged 36, assumed a position as England's pace bowling advisor in the summer after claiming 391 wickets in 107 Tests for the Kiwis.
Speaking as the English squad for the first of three T20 matches against the Kiwis was named, he said of his availability: "We're still working through that at the present time.
"We'll see the outcome over the next little while."
England pace icon Broad had declared the Australia team as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in little doubt over the anticipated challenge during the series, which starts on 21 November.
"In my view there's ever a bad Aussie side," he remarked.
"Our focus is firmly on what we're trying to do. I think the quality of [England's] team that's going out to Australia is excellent.
"It should be an absolute cracker, that series. Not just [are|do] fans from both nations eagerly anticipate it, I think the whole cricket world is."
However, before the English team travel to the city of Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face New Zealand in Christchurch on this Saturday.
